With regards to the Marine Department, the Commission further

recommends:

*the department remains the sole authority for the inspection

and licensing of floating restaurants and similar undertakings under the Merchant Shipping Ordinance;

*but it should take into consideration the requirements imposed

by the Fire Services Department upon restaurants on land; *that further consideration should be given to floating

restaurants currently conducting business in the Colony; *that more reliable ways to test new materials should be

sought; and

that the Merchant Shipping Ordinance should be amended to remove doubt.

The Commission also recommends that consideration be given to

publicising the provisions of the Dangerous Goods Ordinance and the

possible dangers of some new and untried materials,
