SEAVALL AT CHAI WAN
Work To Start In July
Construction of a section of seawall about 1,500 feet long
at Chai Wan is expected to begin in July this year.
The seawall, when completed, will protect the adjacent area
which is at present being reclaimed.
The reclamation is urgently needed for industrial development
and resettlement purposes.
The seawall will also form part of the future cargo-handling
basin and facilitate sea transportation of goods and materials to and
from Chai Wan.
The construction work will take about 18 months to complete.
