SHORTAGE OF LOCAL RECRUITS FOR CIVIL SERVICE
The Hon. Wilson Wang Wants To Know
The Hon. Wilson Wang wanted to know whether there was really a
shortage of local people wanting to join the Civil Service.
He wanted to find out whether this shortage was entirely due to
the brain drain or was it due to keen competition in the private sector or
was it some other reason.
Mr. Wang asked these questions at the resumed Budget Debate in
the Legislative Council today.
"I am inclined to feel that there is room for improvement in the
present method of recruitment and in the training of the serving officers,'
he said.

He pointed out that able young graduates generally received a
good number of offers and for that reason they should be booked well in

after completion.
