The Netherlands Government have stated that they are prepared to agree to the extension of the time charter of the "Tijger" for a further period of six months outside the 3-mile zone after the expiry of her present charter, but that the action of His Majesty's Government in requisitioning 13 Dutch vessels hitherto engaged in the trade of the Dutch East Indies has rendered it impossible for them to give the required guarantee in regard to that trade, as the number of vessels now left in Dutch East Indian import is insufficient for the maintenance of the normal trade. The Netherlands Minister has now counter-proposed, without compromise, that it should be agreed that no ships in Dutch East Indian waters should be laid up or directed on a harmless voyage instead of navigating between eastern ports.
