The present state of things is not of today but for several years past we have been labouring \n\nunder an \n\nunfair treatment and even now the Roman Catholics are \n\ncontinually \n\nmaking expenses for the maintenance of their worship and contributing toward the expenses of the Anglican worship without receiving any compensation. \n\nThe matter is claiming \n\nour most serious attention as we \n\nare convinced that the claims of the Roman Catholics are just and fair. The principle of equality once conceded we feel the most perfect confidence that Her Majesty's Government will give effect to that principle in all its consequences. \n\nI have, &c. \n\n(Signed) John Timoleon Raimondi \n\nBishop Vicar Apostolic \n\n+",
