That gentleman quitted the Colony some time since, and the\n\nPress has become the property of Mr Robert Stracker. This paper is stated by Sir John Davis to have been printed almost exclusively for the\n\none\n\npurposes of\n\nof our principal houses of agency; but this I\n\nnow\n\ndo not believe to be the case. It seems to be conducted with fairness and honesty of purpose,\n\nand is\n\nI understand, taken in and read by the\n\nsame description of persons\n\nas support the \"China Mail\", but it has not so extensive\n\ncirculation in England\n\nas the latter paper\n\n4.\n\nThe \"Friend of China\",\n\nheretofore owned and edited by Mr John Carne, has recently\n\nbeen transferred to Mr Williams Tarrant, a person formerly in Government Services, and who, it will be within Your Lordship's recollection, has recently sent home a\n\nPetition to the Queen complaining of his having been dismissed from public employment.
