        "content_text": "492\n\nlived at No. 23 Tengshan Road,\n\nBy Mr. Halborow: After witness took the planks from No. 333 to No. 23 Tongshan Road, he got the other coolie from the rice shop where he was collecting rice bags at the time.\n\nBai Liang-fei, a coolie employed in selecting bags at the rice shop was called and gave corroborative evidence.\n\nIn cross-examination by Mr. Luson, witness said when he was stopped by the Police they asked what was loaded on the barrow. One of the planks was then prised open. The police took them to the station.\n\nConstable T.J. Fitzpatrick was called. On the afternoon of October 16th, between two and four o'clock, he saw the last witness brought in by Chinese Detective Ho. They got the planks on wheel barrows. They were tied up in bundles of five or six and fastened with ropes.\n\nThe witness gave a demonstration with the planks in court and said the planks were arranged in the following manner. Each plank had rectangular holes cut out at distances of about six inches. When placed one on top of the other, the four planks would form a receptacle sufficiently large enough to receive the tin boxes. Then two more planks, but without holes cut out, were placed as covers so that the tins could not fall out, nor could the boxes be seen. The four planks inside were then screwed together.\n\nThe witness continuing, said he undid four bundles which were screwed together with ropes. The two covers were fastened together. He counted 25 holes in them, some had tins, some had none. He found five tins in three bundles, and seven in the other.\n\nIt would take six planks to conceal four tins.
