        "content_text": "## \nof Her Majesty's Gunboats since last date, and a letter from Captain Nottoth, Senior Naval officer, suggesting an application to the Chinese Government for the co-operation of the Chinese Government in the suppression of this increasing crime. Under existing circumstances it would be utterly futile to make any reference to the Chinese Government, and have so stated to Captain Nolloth; but I trust the time is not distant when the Chinese will be called on to do their duty along their sea-board, or bear the expense incurred by others in doing that duty for them.\n\n4. \nWithin the last few hours a report (enclosed) has been received, of a distressing case of piracy about 40 miles from this, in which British Barque was attacked, the Master and seven of his crew killed, and a passenger with 5 more of the crew wounded.\n\nI have the honor to be,\nSir,\nYour Most Obedient Servant",
