Michelan (Chairman), Rosenbaum, Boolsen, Hartman, Meyer, Siebert, Westendorff, Stepharius and Lundt.\n\nPosition of the Imperial Consulate in Hankow as regards the selling of English textile wares.\n\nMr. Westendorff announces that the Imperial Consul in Hankow has issued a very strong declaration regarding the continuation of trade with England and partly bases his view on conversations with Hankower German merchants, who have apparently expressed the opinion that the withdrawal of all business contracts of German firms in China from England would be a severe blow for the latter.\n\nThe German Association in Shanghai considers that the question must be regarded from a broader point of view, for in the event of German firms in China withdrawing from undertaking further orders from China to England, these orders would fall into other hands, probably English, so that the only person to be damaged would be the German merchant.\n\nIt is therefore resolved to send the following telegram to the German Association in Hankow:- \"Rohriche Diederichsen, Hankow for the German Association, Hankow. Consider your point of view in refusing local payments on bills of exchange for English goods fatal to German interests. Recommend a strict line being drawn between position of German firms in Germany, and German firms in China, because by the execution of your ideas only German firms will be punished, and in addition as exports from neutral China will find their way to England without German...",

Consulate-General,\n\nShanghai, 25th November, 1915.\n\nSir,\n\nIn continuation of my despatch of yesterday, I have the honour to report that the Yangtse Wharf and Godown Company, Limited, has now advertised an extraordinary meeting to go into voluntary liquidation and to transfer the business as a going concern to a new company to be registered at the German Consulate.\n\nThere are a few British shareholders who will apparently be offered shares in the new enemy company, according to the private and confidential circular issued.\n\nThe reason for the change is given as our coming Order in Council.\n\nIt is proposed to appoint as liquidator Boolsen, the manager of the Hamburg Amerika office here. I venture to suggest that the rights of the British shareholders would seem to call for the exercise of the powers of the Colonial Court under Article 192 of the Companies Ordinance of 1911.\n\nThe land of this Company is not like that of the other German Company registered at this office, which would have enabled us to have our shareholders indemnified by the liquidator.\n\nI have etc.,\n\n(Sd.)         "content_text": "As soon as the liquidator will be in a position to sell the old company to the new Aktiengesellschaft, the new shares will be issued to shareholders in exchange of the old ones but not before the first of January, 1916. The following five gentlemen will be asked to act as founders of the new Aktiengesellschaft:-\n\nMr. B. Rosenbaum, Mr. G. Boolsen, Hr. F. Lieb, Mr. R. Laurenz and Mr. F. Voigts.\n\nThe five gentlemen will have to draw up and to present the articles of association of the new Aktiengesellschaft before the German consular Court:-\n\nThe liquidator, probably Mr. Boolsen, is to take up Tls 249,600 in shares and the other four gentlemen Tls 400 for the new shareholders.\n\nAfter the legal formalities have been complied with the Aktiengesellschaft will be registered in the company's Register of the German Consulate General, the liquidator transferring Tls. 249,600 and the other four gentlemen Tls 400 to the new shareholders.\n\nShould you be unable to attend the meeting, we beg to ask you to kindly sign and return the enclosed proxy form.\n\nAnticipating that the proposed measures which we fully believe to be in the interest of the company, will meet with your entire approval, we beg to remain,\n\nDear Sir or Madam,\n\nYours faithfully,\n\nB.
