22. POST BALANCE SHEET EVENT

Subsequent to the balance sheet date, the company has agreed in principle with the employees' representatives to amend certain terms on the employees' retirement schemes. These amendments increase the company's deferred liabilities in relation to the employees' retirement schemes by HK$42 million. The company plans to have the additional deferred liabilities funded by October 1998 and charged to the profit and loss accounts on a straight line basis over a period of three years commencing in the year ending 30th June, 1997.
