The Now York Yankees today defeated the Cincinnati Redlogs, 13-5, and won the 1961 World Series by four games to one. It was the 19th world championship for the Yankees.

It was one of the most one-sided games in World Series history, as the Yankees blasted Joey Joy, the Redlegs' starting hurler, out of the box in the first inning.
