NEW FASHION FORMULAS

NEGLIGEES are a neglected

garment these days. We would all LIKE to lead that sort of life (the maid, the boudoir, the feeling of fragility on the chaise- longue, the rose-laden returning husband, adoration in his eyes) but alas, how many of us actually do?

The reality is much more of a rush. Worn out at the end of a long day, or jaded from a session in the kitchen, over the telephone to the grocer, or at the writing table filling in tax forms, today's women couldn't conjure up the conviction needed for a dreamy negligee -or serve up dinner wearing it without looking a perfect asa.

America thie

has case came to our rescue. What needed, decided practical American wrinen, is something chie, preity and Infinitely easy for a weary girl to climb into in which the would feel relaxed at the end of a long day with- out looking as though she was all ready for bed any minute now. (in other words, it the Jonesas drop in to return her spenner, she could decently answer the door in it.)

1 look a silk dress in for cleaning because, although al- most brand-new it had acquired a couple of greuse-spots, As 1 wanted it in more of a hurry than ordinary cleaning-time would have allowed, I asked for it to be express-cleaned.

Twenty-four hours later I re- turned: dress eleaned, grease- uputs still there. I wonted them out. "But why didn't you SAY you just wanted itsnot- cleaned?" they walled.

Back it went, the manageress very obligingly having promired to get it done fast.

And so she did.

FOR THOSE

PARTY NIGHTS

A

LREADY the first invitations have gone out...it's the start of another party season.

But there is still time to find the dress that could have been made just for you. And this is it--the most feminine, flattering froth of Bri-nylon, with all the allure that flounces give. Italian inspired, it has a fitted bodice with a scooped neckline. And, best of all, it's uncrushable. Obtainable in all the loveliest shades, including dazzling pinks, bright turquoise, berry red, and bitter chocolate. By Frank Usher. The price? About 30gns. And worth it.
