The Fastnet Race is always tongb; but this year's event was one of the ever. The 94 yachts which started out from Cowes had to face the howling gale that caused haves all over the South of England, They worked their way down the Channel, past the Exord, past the Belilies, out Into the Atlantio and turn around the Fastnet Rock, off the south-west coast of Ireland. Then, with the wind behind. they make for the finishing Hae 01 Plymouth. First home was the Stormvogel, a Dutch-reghiered keich belonging to and skippered by. Cornellus Bruynzeel. a plywood millionaire from Stellenbosch. South Africa. She took 03 hours for the 608 miles.
