Man drew knife on police officer

Nam Tang, 42, of room 144 11 block Chai Wan, WAI sentenced to a total of eight months by Mr A. J. Sanguinelți at Causeway Bay Magistracy this morning on charges of possessing dangerous druga and resisting arrest.

The court was told that Iisp G. W. Roper and a pollee constable raided the rear cubicle of 144 D block Chai Wan and saw defendant with a packet of heroin. In his hands. The Inspector revealed his Identity, and placed the ́de- fendant under arrest,

But the defendant struggled, and attempted to stah Inspector Roper with a knife, The knife was eventually wrested frogi him, but ho continued to struggle, and even tore the Inspector's trousers,

Mr Sanguinetii said that it was a very serious offence Lo resist a police offeer in the course of his duty.

"Police alcers have certain duties to perform, and their duties are very difficult at times. And when police officers are in the right they are entitled to the full protection of the court," he said,
