of English Rugby

More than 72,000 fans watched in rospectful silence as the Prince of Wales, shortly to be proclaimed King Edward VIII, walked on to the firm, greon turf of the Twickenham "cabbage patch” which had become the Mecca of World Rugby.

The date was January, 4, 1936, and the stately headquarters of the Rugby Union were crammed tight for the England versus New Zealand match, final fixture of J. E. "Jack" Manchester's Third All Blacks.
