Caught on a difficult pitch after several interruptions by rain, England struggled to reach 180 for eight wickets by the close on the first day of the first Tost against Australia here today.

The 5th Field Regiment, RA, beat the Warrant Officers and Sergeants* Mess, 1st Royal Northumberland Fusiliers, by four games to two in a thrilling final last weekend to win the 1960-1961 San Miguel Brewery Darts League.

Played before a large gathering at

the WOs and Sergeants' Mess, RA station, Whitfield Barracks, the final produced some very good darts. Walker and Sim- monds of the 5th Field Regt and Maclennan and Willoughby of the 1st RNF were especially prominent.

The first-three games went to

the 5th Field and at this stage it certainly looked as though the match was all over. Maclennan and Willoughby of the 1st Royal Northumberland Fusiliers however, had other ideas and with successive

team wins, put their
