LAST WEEK'S BIG SHOW: AUTUMN PREVIEW
This dress in flame-coloured crepe charleston, simple and sexy, was one of the highlights of the finale of the London Fashion flouse Group'a £50,000 Autumn Show for foreign buyera held last week.
Representatives from main fashion stores of 40 countries saw selections of British fashions for the Autumn and Winter of 1961-62 from 27 top ready-to-wear houses.
The buyers come, in ever-increasing numbers, every six months, because "British ready- to-wear is acknowledged the best in Europe," said the Group's chairman, Mr F. Starke. America, our most important customer, admitted that "our highly individualistic manufacturers offer buyers a greater variety in styles and fabrics than they can find at home."
With the dress pictured goes a theatre coat in matching flame satin, exotically shaped, like a great water melon, and equally exotically priced. The dreas, which can be bought separately, is more reasonable.
In British shops at the end of August.
