'Burnley's recent predicament-having to play one It's

League match and two vital Cup-ties in eight days-spotlights once against the absurd con- gestion of fixtures in the English football programme.

In the circumstances, I feel that Burnley were perfectly justified in fielding ten reserves in that much-publicised League match against Chelsea.

My view is that a club has two ligations in any compell- tion to play hard to win and to give their opponents an even Right. Burnley fulfilled both obligatione.
