New York closes mixed HONGKONG

New York, Mar. 21,

Stocks closed mixed after another active session today. Rails showed unusual strongth while industrial shares eased, despite a small closing rally.

Rails smashed through an important resistance level carly in the day and then moved sharply higher, aided by a Senate committee's recom- mendation for financial help to commuter lines.

Of a total 1,311 shares traded, big 050 were higher and 450 lewer.
