of the 'typicals'?

TRY AN EXPERIMENT as I did the other day---start counting the number of times you hear the most overworked descriptive word in our language and you'll have a shock.... I'm still counting, though fast running out of noughts. The word I'm talking about is typical and, admit it, don't you yourself throw it vigorously at most things in life?

In the space of an hour I was told it was typically like me to burn the toast, the weather was typical, the post typically late, the girl at the bus stop typically French, ond wasn't it confoundedly typical-our parking space had gone.

During the same hour I found myself saying what a typical memo, my typewriter was just being plain typical and so were at least five other things or people. The mystifying thing about this satisfying word is that although so often ona man's typical is another mon's exceptional, nobody ever

says so.

lero is my idea of a typical French girl-is she yours? Maybe not, because in my opinion few people's "typicals" are alike.
