For the first time in Aus- tralia, triplets born with RH positive blood have survived birth.

The bables were born to a 24-year-old mother at Brisbane's Women's Hospital, all boys, weighing 6lbs, Olb 10oz, and 516 Goz respectively.

The mother as RH-negative blood and her husband has RH- positive blood. As each baby was born tesis confirmed fears that they would be RH affected, and transfusions were begun. Each baby was given between 1 and 2 pints of blood as his own blood was drained away,

The transfusions, performed groups of three doctors, headed by a pathologist, lastect second six hours, and later a blood transfusion was necessary for the third born, after which they were put into humidieribs, and the youngest into an oxygen cat. Now all three babies are lusty and healthy and show no signs of what they have been through,

It is interesting to know that ane of the pathologists per- formed the first and successful RH transfusion in Brisbane nearly 14 years ago. The Direc- tor of the Red Cross Blood Transfusion service said "It is a medical marvel such as this that makes the anonymous generosity of blood donora so rewarding,"
