New York, Sept. 15.

Stocks rallied sharply in late and heavy dealings today to stave off what earlier had appeared

to be an inexorable penetration of the year's

lows.

A wave of support causing the tape to run a minute lato on the upside cut many Josses in halt among steels. electronics and other big losers earlier in the day

IBM, for example, was down around 13 points at one time and

came back to halve this amount. Motors spray of fractional gains while revealed & several electronics were on the
