Australia's swim team selection shocks

Brisbane, Aug. 7.

Two minor surprises were sprung by Australia's swimming selec

tors today when they nominated swimmers for their events at the Olympic Games in Rome. Two world record holders, John Devitt and lisa Konrads, have both been preferred to swimmers who beat them in trials over the past three days at Townsville, Queensland.

The trials, at which several world records were smashed intensive followed works of

preparation, and it had been stated that the trials would provide the basis of selection for Rome,
