GARY MARSHALL IS NEW SINGING STAR IN LONDON
By COLIN RICKARDS
A public-schoolboy who first sang in a Hongkong nightclub has hit British show business in a big way with his first record. He is tall, good fooking Gary Marshall, 20.
}
It was a chance singing engagement that started Gary on ¿ show business career. One of those Fare opportunities that can change a man's life.
Without it he might have stayed in the Army.
It was 1955, Southampton-born Gary was a lieutenant in the Royal Corps of Signala stationed in Hongkong. In his spare time he was a jazz programme
compere and disė jockey for a commer- cial radio station there.
Then, arranging a programme with Filipino jazz musicians in Hongkong's
"Blue Heaven" club, he was persunded to sing with the quintet. In Hongkong,
his he sang under
real
nime, Gary Crook.
