THE PLUNGING neck- line has discarded its X certificate.

Last season the most copied Paris designer, Nína Ricci, showed

dresses slit from neck to waist, dresses with wide keyhole necklines, dresses with backs starting waist high.

Now British made copies of such dresses are reaching the shops and, though boldness has become the manufac- turers' friend, a couple of inches have been added on the respectable side in deference to those British inhibitions.

And reports from all over the country show that everyone is plunging.

Women who reflected and consulted long before they rashly showed a shoulder are going gay with abandon. And men, whose fashion interest has long been known to be entirely con- cerned with necklines, are applauding and reaching for their cheque books.
