Tudor Era Starts As Favourite

Laurel, Nov. 9.

A little before 4 p.m. (2100 hours GMT) on Wednesday, 12 horses under the colours of nine countries will break away in the eighth Washington D.C. International — richest inter- national horse race in America — at Laurel Park in this suburb of the American capital.

The mile-and-a-half race on turf, in which the European "Tele- graph Wire" gate system will be used at the start for the first time, is worth $100,000. The winner will get $70,000, the placer $15,000 and the shower $5,000.
