Le Van Tiet, 19-year-old Vietnam soldier, was surprise' win- ner of the men's singles title in the French international table tennis championships here tonight.

Le Van Tiet, who was last of the 16 'seeds' for the event, lost the first two games to Japan's Teruo Murakami but hit back to win the final 17-21, 12-21, 21-16, 21-12, 21-16.
