THE YANKS STEAL Although Busmen Score A Well-Deserved Victory Over Listless Champions

By I. M. MACTAVISH

Around 10,000 football fans answered the call of charity and made the journey to the Hongkong Stadium yesterday to see South China and KMB in opposition.

In spite of the fact that the Busmen defeated the Champions by three goals to one the departing spectators were dis- cussing a dazzling performance by the the Bugles and Drums of the United States Marines from Hawaii as they filed out of the ground at the end.

World Speed Skating Title

Oslo, Feb. 15.

Finland's Juhanni Jnervinen today won the world speed skating champion- ship. His compatriot Toivo. Salonen was second.

This was the greatest triumph for Finnish skating since the pre-war- day's of Clas Thunberg.

Today's world champion, a 23-year old telex-operator in the Finnish Post Ofice, placed 6th in the 500 metres, third in the 5,000 metres second in the in the 10,000 1.500 metres and sixth metres, to notch a total points aggre- gate of 190.155.

The newly-crowned champion Bnished eighth in last year's world championships.

A fortnight ago, he gained second place in the European Championships staged at Gotehenburg, Sweden.

He commented: "I approach skal- ing as a technician... Luckily for me conditions were perfect today and i covered the distance without feeling any physical strain.”

A dedicated skater since a child, Jaorvinen plans a concentrated future career in skating.

Next Tuesday he leaves Oslo for Squaw Valley to take part in a big international meet.

His pretty wife incidentally, is a literature student at Helsinki Universi- ty.-France-Presse and U.P.I.
