By CHINA MAIL REPORTERS

A twin-engined Burmese Air Force C-47, on its way to Hongkong from Tourain, developed engine trouble when 150 miles out. After jettisoning baggage and excess fuel, the air- craft landed safely at Kai Tak at 11.30 a.m. The Control Tower at Kaj Tak was alerted and safety precautions for an emergency landing were taken by the Civil Aviation Department and the Royal Air Force.

cept the C-47.

Oil-Leak Developed

After an oil-leak developed in the aircraft's starboard engine, the crew jettisoned all the baggage and excessi fuel.

On the ground the DCA safety crews stood by, but the Burmese pilot made a perfect landing. The C-47 im- mediately on touching down, stopped the starboard engine, to prevent a possible fire.

The pilot decided to wait on the runway, until the plane was towed into the Hongkong Aircraft Engineering Company's hangar.

An official at the HAECO hangar later described the oil

leak as "nothing serious.”
