On Saturday afternoon Army North sprang the first surprise of the Hexangular Tournament when they defeated the heavily favoured Club XV by 14 points (one goal, three penalty goals) to nine (three tries).
On the same ground Army South scored 16 points (two goals, two tries) in a most exciting match, and yet only drew with the Navy who also scored 16 points (two goals, one try, one penalty goal).
