The Old Lady

Is Off To

Break The Bank

At Monte Carlo

London, Dec. 14.

A gentle white haired old lady, who claims she makes £1 a mintue at the gaming tables of Monte Carlo, was reported today preparing for her annual trip to the casinos. "Sunday Dispatch" columnist Bromley Abbot said 84-year-old Mrs Edith Earle of Suburban Hammersmith has "an infallible system" for beating the bank-and keeping her in little luxuries.

The system was left her, he said, by her mathematician

husband when he died some years ago.

Every year since, he said, Mrs Earle heads for the balze- topped tables to make just enough money to see her through another year--and to provide a little some- thing extra for her old age.

A FRIEND TOO

On her Christmas trip this year, Mrs Earls will be accom- panied by Mrs Anne Legare, wife of a Montreal in- surance executive, and Mrs Legure's 24-year-old daughter. Juliette.

"I'm going to have a lot of fun," she said.

Mrs Enric is "determined my system will die with me." "I know that gambling causes distress and heartbreak," she said. "I would rather the Casinos shut up and so put an end to all that human suffering."-UP.I.

MYSTERY OF CREATION WILL BE SOLVED

Prop Lovell

London, Dec. 14. Man will know in a few years whether the universe was created in-

tr Blantaneously whether the process of creation is continuous, thanks to the use of radio telescopes, Pro- fessor A.C.B. Lovell sald tonight in a talk over the BBC.

Professor Lovell, Director of the world'e largest radio telescope at Jodrel Bank, Cheshire, said if it were proved that the galaxies were evenly distributed throughout the universe, it could be concluded that crea- tion was a continuous process.

If on the other hand, the density of the galaxles thinned
