I suppose that a Festival of Arts is the place to experiment, providing that you have already
gained a public informed in the tradition of the Briush stage, but with cur steadily declining standard in all forms of drama, I should have pre- fered to have heard an establish- ed play with a wider appeal to
the radio listeners,

Mr Williams has this lesson The radio is a yet to learn, form of drama that relies on the ear alone, and the ear is an extremely unreliable instru- ment. It picks up sounds and continually misinterprets them; it turns a water wheel into a running tap; the squeal of a brake into a farm yard; and so Only with the spoken word can it be trusted.
