On the musical side he first broadcast half an hour of his own compositions on piano on Radio Hongkong in 1945. For the last three years he has been the technical expert of the "Motoring Magazine" road test team and has also been heard, in a series of the Hammond organ over both the programme on English and Chinese Services.

Hector's hobbies are music and motor cars.and he seems to have been most successful in cultivating each of them at the same time.
