Rat Poison

Kills

India's Lions

Ahmedabad, Sept. 14. Cattle-breeders are reported to have killed 28 of India's rare and vanlaking lions with rat polson.

Pestered by mosquitoes fol- lowing heavy rains in their sanctuary in the jungle, the lions moved out and begun preying on cattle.

Breeders, who are not allowed to shoot them because of a ban designed to preserve the lions, sprayed rat poison on the car- cuscs of cattle killed by the lons. The ions returned to cat their prey, and are killed.
