TOP CLASS TENNIS FEATURES FOURTH DAY
Wimbledon, June 26. The fourth day of the Wimbledon tournament finally pro
vided tennis worthy of a non-official world championship. Several men's singles matches were top class, particularly Italian Nicola Pietrangeli's win over Chile's Luis Ayala, and several eighth-finalists from many nations emerged today.
They included Sweden's Sven Davidson and Ulf Schmidt, Australia's Mol Anderson, Denmark's Kurt Nielsen, India's S. Krishnan, Britain's S. Wilson, France's Pierre Darmon and Pictrangeli. Darmon walked over into the next round when his op- ponent, Australla's Don Candy, defaulted with a knee injury. Once in a while there comes along a sportsman ·
whose capabilities are seldom realised, mainly because he is forced into the background through unavoidable circumstances. This, I
feel, is very much the case of one of our most promising young cricketers.
I refer to 19-year-old John Hung, the lanky skipper
of the Diocesan Boys' School XI.
John has made quite a name for himself among Second Division teams, but, has failed to receive the recogni. tion he deserves, mainly because of his team's status in the Hongkong Cricket League.
