Appeal Against Death

Opium Den Door Keeper Before Full Court

A door-keeper of an opium den, Chan Hing, 40, who was found guilty of the murder of Or Kam-shing, a customer of the divan and sentenced to death appealed against his conviction before the Full Court this morning.

The case for the Crown at the trial was that he murdered Or as he lay in a hunk in the divan in Lung Chun Road, Kowloon City, in the early hours of February 27, by inflicting over 60 wounds on his head, face and arms with a hammer.

The defence claimed that Mr Shurlock said that called before the Prosecution Chan had consumed a quantity throughou: the irial the defence closed its case, of oplum before the allegeilbud made it perfectly clear to murder and as a result his | the Court what their defence mind became confused and he was going to be.
