London, June 19. A brilliant 65 by Colin Cowdrey and his fifth wicket stand of 60 with all-rounder Trevor Bailey took some of the dreariness out of England's batting at Lord's here today on the opening day of the Second Test against New
Zealand.
At the close of play, England were 237 for seven after losing Cowdrey off
what proved to be the last ball of the day.
The New Zealanders re-trieled England to less than 40 runs paved an hour ons tass #y "batsmans ltch", and but for the burly Cowdrey the average would have been much less.
