Mervyn Rose, the Australian Davis Cup player,

reached the Men's Singles final of the Italian | International Lawn Tennis Championships here today.

But Dave Thomas, 6 ft. 3 in., sixteen-stone Welshman, confines his fighting to the golf course. Bull-necked, tanned, and looking as tough as teak, he makes a living by punching a one-and-a-half ounce ball round golf courses all over the world.
