CONTINENTAL SOCCER SPIES AT WORK Sports Diary
They Are Keeping A Close Check On Form
Says TOM FINNÈY
London.
Continental soccer spies are at work! I don't suggest that the Continentals are trying to lure our star players away again- but the Continental teams are keeping a close check on tho form of Britain's international and near international players. The other wook the Italians were keen to watch Ireland who play them in the World Cup on December 4. But I also know that top coaches from other Continental and South American countries keep popping over to watch our lads play. There is nothing wrong in this, of course. England are in the World Cup Finals next June, and you can rest assured that every match they play between now and next summer will attract team managers and coaches of other countries. Their brief will be simply to draw up dossiers on how the England team plays and also an up-to-the- minute brief on the current form of every player who is likely to get into the England team.
