Yet, in 1958, I believe that England may end the run of 21 American victories to bring about the biggest sporting surprise of the year.

Two facts lead me to make this long-term forecast

First, those magnificent veterans of American tennis, Louise Brough and Margaret du Pont, are well past their prime, and there are no signs of up-and-coming youngsters able to take their place.
