LITTLE more than three
weeks ago the Governor made his farewell address to the University Congre gation in which he dealt with the University's re- covery and growth in the years of his Chancellorship, The Colony has every ren- non to be grateful for what I been accomplished. But in one respect the Gover nor's speech fell short of the mark. He appeared to underestimate the size the problem with which the University is now faced. The problem as the head- master of Wah Yan College, Father Barrett so clearly underlined on Wednesday
is the need for substan- tial and urgent expunalon. This has indeed been the case for some considerable time but the pressure in ROW mounting and Father Barrett's remarks are time- ly. Recent reports in this newspaper have underlined the deniand for more pinces and new
Couracy. The funds
the University роявся, however, enable it to think only terms of small increases: Large numbers of students are leaving the Colony to study in oversens univer- attles. What Father Barrett is saying is that they ought to be able to sit for their degrees here-and he is right.

DECISION
SAID MADE
Moscow, Oct. 31. Russia's Communist Party
leaders were reported to- night to have made the fateful decision on the future of Marshal Georgi Zhukov following his abrupt dismissal from the powerful past of Miplator of Defence. (Rellable reports reaching London said it was now almost certain the decl. alon was to drop Marshal Zhukov from the Party's 15-member Presidium and presumably from mem borship in the Parly Gen. tral Committee.) The format announcement of the decision had been expected today. But as the day wore on there was no word in any of the Soviet newspapere or from the official - agency TAUX. Western quartera remained convinced, however, that it was only a matter of a day or two, before the Central Committee would break the news of its deliberations to both the Russian people and the outside world.
