The sandy-haired Ford, who will be 29 on Oct 21, allowed the heavy-hit- ting National League Champions only five scattered hita. He didn't give up the Braves' lone run until his teammates, headed by Gerry Coleman, Hank Bauer and Andy Carey, had given him a 8-0 lead.

Irish Goalkeeper Bombarded With Danish Apples

Danes Beaten 2-0

Copenhagen, Oct. 2.

The Republic of Ireland beat Denmark 2-0 to- night in a World Soccer Cup match, considered to be one of the roughest games ever seen in Copenhagen. The Irish goalkeeper, Tommy Goodwin, was bombarded with apples about ten minutes from the end of the match and after the final whistle dozens of young boys invaded the pitch and threw the apples at officials.

Spectators, angered by what they considered to be Irish fouls, tried to rush onto the pitch and only with difficulty did the Police prevent them.

The match was the last in Group One of the European Section of the competition, afready wo, by England, who thus go forward to the finals in Sweden next year.

Republic of Ireland won the first game against Denmark 2-1 in Dublin last year. Their two goals to night came in the second half-Reuter.
