FOR 24 RUNS
Kent All Out For 43
In 25 Minutes
London, Aug. 22.
Brilliant pace bowling by the Middlesex Test player, Alan Moss, who took seven for 24 in nine overs, earned his side victory by 231 runs when Kent were shot out for 43 runs in 25 minutes at Dover today.
Middlesex had faced a startling collapse, but Fred Titmus rallied. them with an innings of 70. Peter Jones was the only Kent batsman to reach double figures. He made 10.
Now, there is a speaker after Lord Altrincham's own heart. Unscripted, his vibrant personality oozes from every word he utters.

LEICESTER RECOVER
Leicestershire, bottom teani In the County Championship, recovered from their frouracårig by the West Indies carlier this week and took a useful first innings lead of G8 over Essex.
This was due mainly to Jobn Savage's offspin bowling which claimed six for $9, including a spell of four for seven in 12 deliveries.
By the close Leicestershire had increased their lead to 154 with seven wickets left- Router.

FIFTH TEST
ELEGANT INNINGS BY GRAVENEY
London, Aug. 22.
For five hours England prospered on the first day of the fifth and final cricket Test against the West In dies at the Oval today.
Peter Richardson, the Wor- resitashire left-hander, and Tom Graveney each repeated their Nottingham conlurks at the Ex« pence of thu West Inkics Lowters, and when the score solved past 200 for the loss of only David Sheppard's wicket, a mammoth total seemed possible.
On the other hand, danger al- ways seemed to be Turking round the corner for the bats- men. Every time the ball pluched, puits of dust rose from wicket, consistently conanged the spin of bowlers. Finally, the West lodles broko through.

They sent back May for one, Cowdroy for two and Bality for nought, so that whereas at 1840 GMT the board · showed England 233 for one wicket, immediately prior to Richar ton's dismissal the changed to 258 fọr live in the space of 30 minutes.
STAVED OFF
During the last half hour, Graveney and Dyane staved of further "disaster and Bagland Brishet with 283 for Rya wickets, with the hope of more runs to cand from the tail,
While Richardson spent ave hours malding 107 after taking part in stands of 02 with Shep- pard and 146 with Gravenéy, the Gloucestershire right ban- der took out his bat for 113, having made his runs in his own elegant style in three and half hours.

I thought these pessimisticering the turning ball. odds. Former Open Champion Dick Burton assessed his opinion at three to one. Personally I think it is about ten to one.
The Worthing tournament was won by as many as seven strokes by Ken Bousfield, Coombe Hill assistant and Ryder Cup player, and George Low, the up and coming Enfield Olub man, and the smoothness of their former partnership left Rees bewailing the fact that he will not be able to bring them together in the Ryder Cup competition for the good reason that Low has not been chosen,

The withdrawal of Crepello from the St Leger and the improbable appearance of the Italian Braque now that there is no Crepello to beat will undoubtedly make for a bigger turn-out for the final classic on September 11.
Owners of some of the lesser Hghts will take new heart and the field, which might have dwindled 10 half a dozen, now Reeins sare 10 reach double Agures.
