INTERNATIONAL FINANCE TOUGHER Cotton Futures

Sterling Ceases To Be Of Any Use As Reserve

By SYDNEY 5. GAMPELL

London, Aug. 20. International finance is getting tougher but less boring. Unless the freight and commodity markets soon shap out of their malaise, this alleged world inflation has had it.

What is really blowing up, is a liquidity crisis in international payments.

As can he seen countries as varied as France, India, Japan and Denmark, this carries a serious threat of a deflationary chain-reaction of import restrictions.
