Another strong combination from Recreio, the brothers' C. C. and A. P. Pereira, bowed out from the competition in a minor upset yesterday when five more pairs completed the last sixteen of the Colony Open Pairs Lawn Bowls Cham- pionship.
Playing at the Hongkong Football Club, the Pereira brothers lost to J. S. Skedd and W. B. Brown of Taikoo by 15-19. They took an early lead with a three and a single on the first two heads, but cracked up after that. Skedd and Brown drew even with a four on the third head and followed this up with ten more shots on the next six heads to establish a winning lead of 14-4.
The Pereitis, fighting a losing battle, menged to narrow the
gap to 12-15 by the end of the 15th head, and 15-10 by the 20th head, but had to concede a single on the last head to their opponents to lose by 15-10.
Two very close games ye.lor- day saw two Taikoo Club pairs edged out by their Craigengower opponents.
At the Police Recreation Club green, brilliant drawing by Francis Lce and his abilly of gewing in that odd shot time and again enabled him and his partner, E. G. Barros, to nose out N. Fraser and B. Douglass by 10-14.
Fraser and Douglass had a slight edge over their opponents up to the 14th head, leading all the way up to 13-8. Barros and Lee struck their best form at this stage, scoring a single, two twos and another single to take the lenti al 14-13. Fraser and Douglass drew level at 14-14 Jon the next head, but conceded two singles in the last two heads to their opponents.
At Hongkong Cricket Club, C. K. Sung and A. M. Omar hek the advantage up to the 14th head with a 14-7 lead. A two and two thress by their op- ponents, H. Black and P. Gardner, saw them reach the | 18th head with a 15-14 score,
