DAVID SHEPPARD STAKES FOR A TEST PLACE First Wicket Stand With
Peter Richardson
London, July 17.
The Rov. David Sheppard today staked a claim for a place in England's cricket team for next week's fourth Test by helping Peter Richardson in an opening stand of 87 for the Gentlemen against the Players at Lord's.
The calls of his North London parish prevented Sheppard playing cricket for Sussex this summer until last week-end, but after a tentative start today he settled down well against a powerful attack.
