Finland's Olavi Salsota broke the world record for the 1,500 Metres run with 3 minutes, 40.2 seconds at the Aabo athletic meeting today. The former record of 3 minutes, 40.6 seconds was set up by Hungary's Istvan Rozsavoelgyi,

Rozsaolgyi's previous world record was beaten today by three Finnish runners, who fought out a very close finish.

Olavi Salonen was second, beaten only by inches by his compatriot Salsola, and credited with the same record-breaking time of 3 minutes, 40.2 seconds. Olavi Vuorisalo was a close third in 3 minutes, 40,3 seconds.
