The contest between United States and British Interests to gain Japanese orders for atomic power stations was believed by experts here today to have swung in Britain's favour with the signing of the Anglo-American "ätöms for peace" pact.
Last month Tokyo reports said that nine Japanese firme had decided jointly to buy an Ameri- can and a British reactor.
A prevailing view here was that it amounted to an admission by the Americand that they have more to learn from Britain about atomic electric power stations than they have hitherto been pre-ported that the Americans had pared to say..
From Washington dispatches published here, it appears that one of the main subjects in the talks was Calder Hall, Britain's atomic power station which is already operating and supplying its quota of elecirtelty to British homes and Industries.
