Tunisia today asked the United Nations to aid it in caring for refugees who had fled from Algeria into the neighbouring North African country.

The request was formally made by Mr Mongi Slim, Tunisian Ambassador to the World Organisation, during a conference at United Nations headquarters here with the Secretary-General, Mr Dag Hammarskjold.
