Multi-Party System Would Disrupt Unity Says Kadar

By RONALD FARQUHAR

Budapest, May 9.

Hungary, today called on the Hungarian Mr Janos Kadar, Prime Minister of

National Assembly (Parliament) to prolong its life and postpone general cloctions due to be held this month,

!

He told the first meeting of Parliament since the Hungarian rising last October that it would be better to devote energies to repairing damage caused by the revolt, particularly in the economy, than to prepare an election.

Anyway, he said, the over-1 whelming majority of volars would approve candidates put forward by the Communist-led Patriotic People's Front,

(Government officials sald that a Budapest Radio report that Parliament already agreed today to extend is lite for two years was incorrect.) The Assembly expected to approve during the present three-day session the Government proposal to ex- lend its mandate, which the constitution permits in case of war or for other "extraordinary circumstances,"
